Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision Replaces defective components as instructed; works unsupervised on most tasks Interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the complaint once assigned a task Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation Ensures compliance with all federal/provincial and corporate guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT) Acts as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels Accesses and uses internal and external maintenance documents Performs other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support) SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT220); complete OEM On-Line diagnostic tool courses as required by location fleet mix (completed within 365 days) Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred Vocational or Technical Certification; post-secondary degree or technical certifications preferred Basic tools required Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
Routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems
Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred All other certification as required by location, required Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred Benefits
Hourly pay: $35.25 per hour Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained up to $700 Quarterly bonus: up to $500 per quarter Tool box/tool allowance Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match; start at 30 days Paid time off accrues at day one (80 hours per year) Paid maternity leave (eligibility requirements apply) Additional day off for U.S. military veterans Ryder Top Technician recognition; cash prizes from $250 to $50,000 Tuition reimbursement up to $5,000 PPE, uniforms, and boot allowance provided 401(k) with company match; stock and employee discounts Additional Information
