We are hiring a permanent full‑time Experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician to support our truck fleet at Ryder in Albany, NY.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly pay: $33.28 per hour

Certification bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification (up to $700)

Quarterly bonus up to $500 per quarter (four times per year)

Sign‑on bonus: $1250 at 30 days and $1250 at 90 days

Tool box/tool allowance

Schedule: Monday–Friday; weekends off

Hours: Second shift, 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree, or technical certifications (preferred)

Basic tools, required

Aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire work (required)

Two years or more of classroom training and work experience in required experience (preferable)

Valid commercial driver license (CDL) Class A (preferred)

Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire

Pass a Ryder drug test

Pass a DOT physical

Pass a Ryder road test

Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)

Responsibilities

Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties

Perform standard vehicle maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work, etc.)

Perform standard component inspections and repairs

Perform preventive maintenance and diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers

Identify root cause of basic failures and perform repairs as required

Replace defective components as instructed

Perform facility maintenance duties

Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints once assigned a task

Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation

Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)

Perform other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support)
