About the opportunity We are seeking to appoint a Consumer and Community Involvement Manager for the MS Research Flagship at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research (Menzies), University of Tasmania.

Working within the Brain Health Theme and the MS Research Flagship, the Consumer and Community Involvement (CCI) Manager plays a lead role in establishing and managing consumer partnerships throughout the research life cycle. They are a member of the Flagship’s leadership group and are vital to achieving the Flagship’s strategic goals. They provide critical support to the Consumer Advisory Committee, a central component of the Flagship’s governance structure. Working autonomously (under broad direction), the incumbent will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of consumer and community involvement principles in research and ensure alignment with National and local CCI policies and best practice.

What you’ll do:

Manage and coordinate all aspects of CCI for the MS Research Flagship.

Actively engage with researchers to promote and support the inclusion of CCI plans in research grants and projects.

Manage and coordinate the Consumer Advisory Committee (CAC), provide executive support, and ensure their input and connection with the Flagship remains central.

Provide high level stakeholder relationship advice to the Flagship’s leadership team and provide feedback and information on behalf of the CAC.

Coordinate the MS registry of consumers, CCI opportunities and activities, and report on outcomes and impact.

What we’re looking for:

A degree level qualification in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of significant experience, education or training.

Demonstrated passion for consumer and community involvement with a proven track record of cultivating diverse, collaborative, productive and effective relationships in a cooperative and genuine manner to achieve desired outcomes.

Proven experience in providing high level stakeholder engagement advice involving government and non‑government organisations.

Highly developed understanding and successful application of consumer and community involvement principles and practice, preferably in a health or medical research environment.

Experience coordinating and facilitating consumer and community forums and events, with highly developed written and verbal communication, presentations and reporting skills, advocacy and diplomacy skills.

Salary details Appointment to this role will be at HEO 7 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $130,943 comprising base salary within the range of $101
