Key Responsibilities

Interpret blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to plan tool fabrication.

Operate a variety of precision machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment.

Fabricate, assemble, and test new tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures to exact specifications.

Perform precision machining, grinding, and fitting of components to maintain tight tolerances.

Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain existing production tooling to ensure operational efficiency.

Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring instruments to verify tool accuracy and functionality.

Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for optimal tool performance and longevity.

Recommended Qualifications

Proven experience as a Tool Maker, including completion of a recognized apprenticeship or equivalent on‑the‑job training.

Proficiency in operating a range of manual and CNC machine tools (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs).

Ability to accurately read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications.

Expertise in using precision measurement tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges, CMMs) to ensure tight tolerances.

Strong understanding of metallurgy, material properties, and heat treatment processes.

Excellent problem‑solving skills and meticulous attention to detail in tool fabrication and troubleshooting.

Bonus Qualifications

Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam).

Experience in CNC programming and operation.

Knowledge of advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparator).

Welding experience for tool repair and modification.
