Overview
The Mechanic role is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of heavy construction equipment such as pavers, rollers, skid steers, graders, excavators, loaders, and trucks. This role ensures that equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for use in the field to support paving and grading operations. Responsibilities
Understand and follow established procedures Establish and communicate new procedures Understand operating principles of machinery Take responsibility for keeping machinery useful Watch carefully for problems and potential problems Use judgement to determine repair priorities Create and use routines for maintenance Create and maintain accurate records Communicate effectively with fellow employees for safety and efficiency Maintain credibility and control in unusual situations Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors Follow company and industry safety standards and procedures at all times Maintain cleanliness and organization of shop and equipment Qualifications
CDL Highly Preferred Paving equipment mechanic experience highly preferred 2 years' experience and/or Votech / Mechanical Training Good driving record Strong safety awareness and technical capacity Reliable and strong problem-solving skills High school education or GED equivalent Strong team player Reliable and on-time Education & Experience
