Territory Sales Representative
(TSR) to join our growing team in
Sacramento, CA . As a TSR, you will report directly to the Sr. Director, Sales Operations and play a key role in driving sales growth, increasing market presence, and building lasting relationships with independent distributors and retail partners. The TSR is responsible for achieving maximum sales profitability and market penetration in an assigned area through the development of positive, mutual relationships with a network of independent distributors and Retail Trade. The TSR communicates the company’s sales, service, and merchandising strategies to independent distributors. At all times, the TSR recognizes that independent operators are not subject to the company’s direction and control but rather “partner” with the company to increase sales of product. What You’ll Do
Establish and maintain proactive and professional relations with the Retail Trade and Independent Distributors; act as key liaison between Zone Sales Manager and Independent Distributor. Reinforce with retail store managers and store decision makers that Utz supports independent distributors and values their relations with the Company. Maintain regular retail chain contacts with frequent visits to support service levels, understanding that the independent distributors, not the company, sell product to stores on their route. Provide information on industry performance and service measurements including new product sales, display execution opportunities, and retail store feedback; communicate through business persuasion without directing or controlling the independent distributor. Communicate the company's focus to all Independent Distributors willing to receive such information and facilitate improvements in results by informing them of the Company’s targets for sales, service, merchandising standards, and product/mix distribution. From time to time, may be required to occasionally run an open route. Support the Zone Sales Manager at regularly scheduled workshop meetings to help independent distributors enhance their operational expertise; encourage distributors to utilize all tools and mediums to realize full sales potential. Provide full-day route ride-alongs, at the request of the Independent Distributor, offering route optimization and skill sharing opportunities. Act as liaison between Independent Operators and Company Settlement Department to assist in resolving IO issues regarding Settlement Statements. Perform required resets at the direction of the Zone Sales Manager when third-party reset companies cannot cover. What You Bring
1–3 years of experience in sales operations, preferably in the snack, grocery, or beverage industry. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities while remaining flexible to meet the day’s objectives. Knowledge and understanding of Independent Distribution models preferred. Capability to build trust and rapport through persuasion and respect. Ethical selling and negotiation skills to be shared with independent operators at their request. Proactive communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail, organization, and the ability to prioritize. Functional knowledge and proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to lift, push, transport, and pull product weighing up to 40 lbs or more. Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a DOT certification. Ability to legally and safely operate a motor vehicle. Compensation & Benefits
