Duties and Responsibilities
Must understand and use basic safety precautions when using various mechanical, electrical and gasoline powered tools.
This job will require the use of heavy lifting (50 pounds).
Salt Cedar eradication using hand tools, chainsaws, and other power tools.
Slash piling and burning of all removed Salt Cedar.
Assist with quarterly EPA Region 9 reports and end-of-year reports.
Digging, hauling, pulling and chopping weeds.
Gather and maintain native seedlings and cuttings for revegetation of riparian areas.
Safely use and keep all equipment in workable condition.
Installation of fencing, road closing and interpretation signage when necessary.
Photo documentation of progress, assist with GPS marking of all trees removed and planted.
Backhoe experience would be beneficial to the position.
Complete basic weekly logs for reporting purposes.
As other duties as assigned by department Director and Tribal Council.
Qualifications
LABOR INTENSIVE - Must be in good physical condition and willing to work outdoors (winter, summer, windy days).
You must be able to walk on hillsides and embankments.
You must be 18 years or older.
You must be willing and ready to work with a positive attitude every day.
Ability to handle chainsaw and other land clearing equipment.
CPR/First Aid Certification recommended.
You must be mentally/physically readily capable of doing your day-to-day job.
Valid Driver’s License.
Other Requirements
Pass a pre-employment drug test.
Comply with Drug Free Workplace Policy.
Work boots required (employee's responsibility/expense).
