Deli Clerk
The Deli Clerk works in a professional kitchen preparing and cooking meals at Sprouts Farmers Market, one of the fastest growing natural foods retailers.
Overview Sprouts seeks team members excited to share their passion for food, provide outstanding customer service, and maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming deli environment.
Responsibilities
Assist customers in making healthy food choices by preparing “fresh and easy meals.”
Provide a high level of customer service and ensure deli items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented while keeping the area clean.
Fill, maintain, and rotate products and displays.
Prepare special orders and party trays.
Operate meat and cheese slicers, ovens, microwaves, cutting tools, scales, and other deli equipment following company standards and procedures.
Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary deli area and equipment; clean shelves and products, keep floors free of spills, sweep, and remove hazardous debris.
Receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality.
Qualifications
Be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent and experience in grocery, restaurant, or a related field, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
Dependable and reliable.
Outgoing, friendly, and enthusiastic about interacting with customers.
Ability to work a flexible schedule—including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Good communication skills; able to take direction and participate in a team environment.
Able to answer phones and take special orders.
Capable of lifting/carrying product horizontally or vertically up to 70 lbs from 4” to 60”, for a distance of up to 20 ft without mechanical assistance for up to 4 hours.
Capable of standing continuously for up to 4 hours per shift (total 8 hours).
Perform general housekeeping in the department; clean and sanitize work area (tables, floors, walls, cases, coolers, freezers, etc.).
Operate slicer, wrapping, and cooking equipment; keep all equipment in safe working condition.
Adhere to all safety, health, and weights and measures regulations; obtain and maintain a Food Handlers permit.
Work in different temperature environments (cooler and freezer).
Other related duties as assigned.
Pay Range $18.20 – $24.55 per hour, based on applicable experience and qualifications.
