Key Responsibilities
Fabricate, repair, and modify precision tooling, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
Operate and maintain various machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment.
Interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
Utilize precision measuring instruments to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality.
Troubleshoot and diagnose tooling malfunctions, implementing effective repair solutions.
Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Assist in the design and development of new tooling concepts and prototypes.
Recommended Qualifications
Completion of a recognized Tool and Die Maker apprenticeship program or equivalent formal training.
Proven proficiency in operating a variety of manual and CNC machining equipment, including mills, lathes, grinders, and EDMs.
Expert ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMMs to verify part conformity.
Strong understanding of various metals, alloys, and heat treatment processes used in tool manufacturing.
Bonus Qualifications
Proficiency with advanced CAD/CAM software for tool design and simulation.
Experience with CNC programming, including G-code and conversational programming.
Background in Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
Certification or experience in specialized machining processes like EDM or TIG welding.
