Key Responsibilities

Design, fabricate, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.

Operate conventional and CNC machining equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs.

Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and CAD drawings to determine specifications.

Perform precision measurements using a variety of inspection tools to ensure accuracy and quality.

Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with existing tooling, implementing corrective actions.

Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for tool longevity and performance.

Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize tool design and manufacturing processes.

Recommended Qualifications

5+ years of experience as a Journeyman Tool Maker or equivalent in a manufacturing environment.

Proficiency in operating manual machining equipment (lathes, mills, grinders) and precision measurement tools.

Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications.

Demonstrated experience with CNC machining, programming (G-code, M-code), and CAD/CAM software.

Expertise in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a variety of production tooling, dies, jigs, and fixtures.

Completion of a recognized Tool & Die Maker apprenticeship program or equivalent technical degree.

Bonus Qualifications

Proficiency in advanced CAD/CAM software for complex geometries or 5-axis machining.

Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles applied to tooling processes.

Proven ability to contribute to tool design improvements and optimization for manufacturing efficiency.

Knowledge of specialized materials such as carbides, ceramics, or high-temperature alloys.
