We're Hiring! We are seeking a

Vice President of Philanthropy and Community Engagement

to serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and active participant in strategic decision-making. This role provides visionary leadership for all public relations, fundraising, and donor engagement efforts, ensuring the agency's visibility, impact, and financial sustainability.

This role works in close partnership with program teams to stay informed of programmatic needs, emerging opportunities, and community impact—ensuring that fundraising strategies are aligned with agency priorities and responsive to both donor interests and the broader fundraising climate.

The VP of Philanthropy and Community Engagement oversees the Philanthropy and Communications team responsible for special event planning, donor information management, external marketing, and strategic communications. The role works closely with staff across the organization, the Board of Directors, and key volunteers to elevate community awareness, strengthen donor relationships, and expand philanthropic investment.

Key Responsibilities

Expand current and cultivate new donor relationships to achieve annual fundraising goals.

Design and implement a comprehensive major gifts program, building a strong pipeline of qualified prospects.

Serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, contributing to the development and execution of agency strategic objectives.

Lead the expansion and management of a robust planned giving and legacy program.

Strengthen the involvement of volunteers within the philanthropy process.

Provide oversight for all administrative and operational systems that support accurate donor records, pledge management, acknowledgment processes, and CRM utilization.

Identify and pursue high‑impact grant opportunities across government, foundation, and corporate sectors.

Oversee public relations, external communications, and marketing efforts to enhance the visibility and reputation of Family Services.

Qualifications Education

Required:

Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, business, or related field.

Experience

Required:

7+ years of donor development and fundraising experience.

3+ years in a supervisory role.

Preferred:

Previous marketing and communications experience.

Skills and Competencies

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook).

Demonstrated success in expanding and cultivating donor relationships.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to influence and engage a wide range of volunteers and donors and build long‑term relationships.

Strong organizational and time‑management skills are critical to success as well as the ability to impact both strategic and tactical fundraising efforts.

Valid Wisconsin Driver's License with reliable personal vehicle. Maintain required auto insurance and acceptable driving record requirements.
