Key Responsibilities
Design, fabricate, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
Interpret blueprints, schematics, and CAD models to determine tool specifications.
Operate conventional and CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM machines.
Perform precision measurements using instruments like micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure accuracy.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair malfunctions in existing tooling and machinery.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize tool design and manufacturing processes.
Maintain detailed records of tool specifications, repairs, and maintenance activities.
Recommended Qualifications
Proven experience as a Tool Maker or in a precision machining role.
Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders, EDM).
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T.
Expertise in precision measurement techniques and using a variety of inspection tools.
Solid understanding of metallurgy, tooling materials, and heat treatment processes.
Completion of a formal apprenticeship, vocational training, or relevant technical degree.
Bonus Qualifications
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for design and programming.
Experience operating and programming advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM).
Basic welding or fabrication skills for minor repairs and modifications.
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
