Vendor Relations & Merchandise Selection
Serve as primary buyer for the resort shop, meeting with vendors and product representatives to identify and select luxury goods and gifts that align with the resort's brand standards
Display strong merchandising skills with keen attention to visual presentation and detail
Curate a distinctive collection of high-quality merchandise that appeals to the resort's discerning clientele
Stay informed of current trends in luxury retail and resort gift shop offerings
Operations Management
Oversee all daily operations of the Wequassett Resort Shop
Coordinate monthly physical inventory of all merchandise and stock and ensure timely submission to the finance department
Ensure all pricing is accurate and in accordance with budget and departmental goals
Monitor sales performance and adjust strategies to meet revenue targets
Maintain organized stockrooms and ensure proper rotation of merchandise
Recruit, interview, select, and train seasonal sales personnel
Schedule and supervise shop staff to ensure appropriate coverage
Foster a team environment focused on exceptional customer service
Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development
Lead by example in delivering five-star customer experiences
Customer Service
Provide personalized, high-level customer service to resort guests
Handle customer inquiries, special requests, and resolve any concerns professionally
Create a welcoming and luxurious shopping environment
Build relationships with returning guests and anticipate their needs
Collaboration and Communication
Work closely with other resort departments to support overall guest experience
Communicate effectively with management regarding inventory needs, sales trends, and operational matters
Participate in resort meetings and initiatives as needed
Maintain professional relationships with vendors and sales representatives
Experience
2-3 years of supervisory experience in a retail or merchandising environment required
Hotel or resort experience is helpful but not required
Proven track record in visual merchandising and product selection
Experience with inventory management and retail operations
Skills and Competencies
Strong eye for detail and visual merchandising
Excellent customer service skills with ability to engage with luxury clientele
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Proficient computer skills, including point-of-sale systems and Microsoft Office
Ability to work collaboratively across departments
Strong organizational and time management abilities
Financial acumen with understanding of budgets and profit margins
Self-motivated with ability to work independently
Flexible and adaptable to the needs of a seasonal operation
Passionate about retail and creating exceptional guest experiences
Detail-oriented with high standards for quality
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods up to 10 hours per day
Ability to lift and move merchandise (up to 25-30 pounds)
Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed during the season
Seasonal Position This is a seasonal position aligned with the resort's operating calendar. Specific start and end dates will be communicated during the interview process.
Hourly Pay Range: $25 - $30 / hour based on qualifications
