Mortgage Field Services Inspector
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated, independent contractors to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders, based in Reno, NV. No prior inspection experience required, but effective time management and meeting deadlines are essential. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income, enjoy a flexible schedule, and can work 2–30 hours per week depending on county volume. What is an Occupancy Verification?
A periodic property inspection to confirm whether the home is occupied and to report on its general condition. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant. Inspectors cover all inspections in their county, sometimes sharing a county with a partner if volume warrants. Responsibilities
Most inspections take 5–6 minutes. Complete the inspection within 4 days after assignment. Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards. Take 9+ photos with brief comments. Fill out a short form in the mobile app. Be prepared to drive extended periods, making numerous stops throughout the day in the assigned territory. Requirements
Computer with internet connection. Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you pay for your own gas). Smartphone (Android or iPhone). Printer. Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license. Pay and Hours
This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Inspectors earn an equivalent of $30–$40 per hour, with 20–500 inspections per month depending on county. No set minimum; higher volume counties pay lower rates. Earn more as you become established, have greater availability, or cover a larger territory.
