FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. The position is based in Reno, NV, and FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Complete inspections within 4 days after assignment.
Take 9+ property photos with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Travel within your county, including extended driving and frequent stops.
Deliver accurate reports and make determinations of occupancy based on industry standards.
Expect most inspections to take 5‑6 minutes each.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you will pay your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. While you are paid per inspection, you can expect to earn the equivalent of $30‑$40 per hour. Depending on the county and its urban or rural nature, you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2‑30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates; higher‑volume counties have lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month. Earn more as you become established, increase your availability, or cover a larger territory. No additional mileage reimbursement is provided beyond the flat fee per inspection.
