FAR INSPECTIONS
Overview
FAR Inspections is hiring highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. This independent contractor role offers predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but the ability to manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. The position is based in Reno, NV and has been in business for over 9 years.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The contractor’s role is to verify property occupancy, report on general condition using a mobile application, and capture exterior photos. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after vacancy.
Responsibilities
Complete each inspection within 5‑6 minutes.
Finish inspections within 4 days after assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in the mobile app.
Travel extensively within the assigned county, making numerous stops throughout the day.
Requirements
Computer with a stable internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you pay for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. You will earn the equivalent of
$30‑$40 per hour . Depending on the county, you may complete anywhere from 20‑500 inspections per month, working 2‑30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties offer higher rates and higher‑volume counties offer lower rates. There is no set minimum number of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month to month. Earn more as you establish yourself, increase availability, or cover a larger territory.
No mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
