FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.
These independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule and no prior field inspection experience required – only strong time‑management and deadline‑meeting skills.
What is an Occupancy Verification? A periodic property check that confirms a loan’s borrower still occupies the home and documents its general condition via a mobile app. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos if the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Complete each inspection in 5‑6 minutes.
Finish the inspection within 4 days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy status according to industry standards.
Take 9+ photos with brief comments.
Submit a short form on the mobile app.
Drive extended periods making multiple stops within the assigned county territory.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle with good gas mileage (you’ll pay for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a standard background check.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume, translating to roughly $30–$40 per hour. Depending on county and whether it’s urban or rural, you may complete 20–500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties offer higher rates; higher‑volume counties offer lower rates. No set minimum inspections per month – work is consistent month‑to‑month, and earnings increase as you establish availability or cover larger territory. There is no additional mileage reimbursement beyond the per‑inspection flat fee.
