Mortgage Field Services Inspector – FAR Inspections
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. This independent contractor role provides predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required; effective time management and deadline‑meeting are essential. The position is based in Reno, NV.
What is an Occupancy Verification? An occupancy verification confirms that a property is being occupied and reports on its overall condition using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos for vacant properties.
Responsibility
Complete inspections within 5‑6 minutes for most cases.
Finish each inspection within 4 days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos with brief comments.
Complete a short form in a mobile app.
Drive extensive hours, making frequent stops in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as the contractor pays for fuel).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 contractor position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Contractors can earn roughly $30–$40 per hour. Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month while working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties offer higher rates; higher‑volume counties offer lower rates. There is no set minimum inspections per month, but the work is consistent month to month. Earnings increase as you become established, offer more availability, or expand your territory. No mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
