Press Brake Operator/ Setup (Forming Dept.)
Reports to: General Manager, Plant Operations Location: St. Charles, IL FSLA Classification: Non-Exempt Summary of Position
The Press Brake Operator is responsible for producing precision metal components using CNC-controlled press brake machines. This includes setting up machines, reading blueprints, using precision measuring tools, and performing quality checks to ensure parts meet specified tolerances. The role also requires converting decimals to fractions and applying geometric principles in daily operations. Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation & Setup
Operate CNC press brakes to perform precision bends Set up machines by adjusting and loading tooling and making necessary control adjustments per blueprints, drawings, and engineering instructions Use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, protractors, and squares Inspect finished parts to ensure conformance with tolerance specifications Production Support
Identify and report issues related to quality, processes, materials, or equipment to the Supervisor or Quality Control Specialist Work independently with minimal supervision Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area Support interdepartmental collaboration to meet production goals Contribute to department objectives related to quality, efficiency, and output Participate in monthly inventory counts to maintain inventory accuracy Proactively identify and suggest improvements to enhance productivity and profitability Required Skills & Qualifications
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow instructions Strong math skills, including working with fractions and geometry Proficient in using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, etc.) Ability to read and interpret blueprints and calculate bend allowances Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. routinely Ability to stand for at least 8 hours Strong teamwork and communication skills Willingness to provide immediate feedback when production issues arise Education & Experience
