Mobile Diesel Technician Level II . Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various types of truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and more. Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, air conditioning, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and more. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation. Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate and evaluate alternatives with sound judgment. Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre-/post-trip inspections. Collaborate with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information, resolve problems, and meet expectations. Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks. Document work according to company standards and upload photos of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using the TRAIT app on an iOS device. Complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion. Work with a high degree of independence and manage daily schedule. Maintain a high level of productivity and operate within standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as needed. Communicate with management and support teams to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT). Maintain the service truck and conduct safety checks and daily pre-/post-trip inspections. Requirements
High School Diploma or GED and 3 years’ related experience. An equivalent combination of degree/certification or 5 years’ related experience may be considered. Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties. Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months. Must be able to pass a DOT background screening and DOT physical prior to employment; this position follows FMCSA regulations. Current and valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical. If four months or less remain, a DOT physical will be required. Must be at least 21 years of age due to interstate operating authority. Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File (DQF). Certifications
