Full‑Time Salaried
Hours: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
Location: Clinton Project Office, 1057 E Gaines Dr, Clinton, MO, 64735
Why You’ll Love This Position The construction inspector inspects routine construction items for conformance to plans, specifications, special provisions, and terms of the contract. Responsibilities are performed under moderate supervision.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and perform construction inspections, verifying that contractors’ activities comply with contracts, specifications, and engineering principles.
Perform duties as inspector in charge of routine construction items, including asphaltic or Portland cement concrete plants, paving, grading and base, small bridges, concrete box and pipe culverts, utility adjustments, traffic signals and lighting.
Perform measurements, computations, or other work in preparing final plans, change orders, contractor payment estimates, and engineering costs.
Maintain required construction documentation, records, and files; prepare progress reports and keep supervisor fully informed of activities or unusual conditions on the job.
Provide field checks for contractor surveying operations; serve as party chief on routine layout and staking; operate instruments for staking of large bridges, critical structures or complex interchanges.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college or university curriculum.
Certification to operate nuclear gauges may be required.
Successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical‑physical examination.
Successful candidates with the above qualifications will be considered for one of the three levels based on knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Salary and Levels
Entry: $67,307.04
Intermediate: $72,691.68
Senior: $78,506.88
Special Working Conditions
Job requires moderate physical activity.
Job requires exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment.
Job may require operation of vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials.
A post‑secondary degree is the best measure to ensure candidates possess required engineering knowledge, including applied physics and mathematics, drafting, engineering processes and procedures, project management, industry ethical standards, and analyzing and modeling data.
