This is a 40 hour work week; five 8-hour days, or possible four 10-hour days with schedule to be discussed with supervisor.* Performs journey-level work in the testing, repair, inspection, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems to meet NFPA codes using hand tools and monitoring devices.* Performs both routine and preventive maintenance on fire sprinkler systems.* Provides information to management for new projects and deferred maintenance planning.* Reviews designs and maintains proper documentation to ensure compliance with NFPA codes and university construction standards.* Maintains inventory control and inspects test equipment for safe and proper operations.* Maintains a clean and safe work environment.* Coordinates work with outside contractors.* Performs work from written or verbal instructions and in accordance with established safety procedures.* Performs other job related functions as assigned. Will participate in the On-Call program.* This position and associated job duties have been designated as essential during extraordinary and emergency situations when the university is closed. Essential personnel must maintain contact with their supervisor and report to work as regularly scheduled unless directed otherwise.* Required to operate an electronic device such as an iPhone, iPad, or laptop/desktop computer to perform and fulfill time reporting and work management requirements.
