Overview

This position is Maintenance Assistant at the New York State Center for Recruitment & Public Service. Base pay range is $42,641/yr. The role involves semi‑skilled maintenance and repair work in facilities, with responsibilities for plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry, grounds, and equipment upkeep. Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance and repairs for plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry, and other facility services. Maintain grounds, including mowing, trimming, snow removal, and trash removal. Clean common areas, offices, restrooms, and paint as needed. Troubleshoot facility, equipment, and machinery problems and resolve concerns promptly. Maintain automotive equipment and machinery. Assist with Non‑military Use Program maintenance as applicable. Supervise subordinates when directed. Act as primary point of contact for contractors and vendors on‑site. Complete required training and attend periodic overtime and travel when needed. Requirements

Working knowledge of federal, state, and local facility and building codes, health and safety standards, and related regulations. Ability to use tools, machines, equipment, and materials safely and efficiently. Understanding of facility and grounds plans, specifications, manuals, and blueprints. Capability to work at heights, lift heavy objects (50+ lbs), work outdoors, and in confined spaces. Good verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Valid driver’s license (and, if applicable, military driver’s license). Minimum Qualifications

At least 2 years full‑time experience in maintenance or mechanical work under a skilled trades worker, or completion of a 2‑year technical school program. Minimum age 18 with English literacy and height work ability. Valid driver’s license and background investigation clearance as required. Preferred Qualifications

High school graduate or GED with college credits. Supervisory experience. Trade expertise or certification with record of complex construction or maintenance assignments. Employment Details
