Senior Employment Specialist & Trainer – Disability Services
Position Summary
The Senior Employment Specialist & Trainer supports individuals who are blind or visually impaired in securing meaningful employment, while also training and mentoring colleagues who provide direct services. This role ensures quality service delivery and staff readiness in line with NYSCB standards.
Key Responsibilities
Train and mentor staff on job coaching, assistive tech, and NYSCB procedures
Coordinate with NYSCB counselors on employment planning
Deliver job readiness training (resume building, interviews, communication)
Assist clients with job search and onboarding
Educate employers on accessibility, accommodations, and inclusion
Maintain accurate records and submit required reports to NYSCB
Qualifications
Valid license/certification to train or coach individuals with disabilities (e.g., VRT, CRC)
At least 2 years of experience in disability employment services
Knowledge of assistive technology for the blind (e.g., JAWS, NVDA)
Strong communication, coaching, and documentation skills
Familiarity with NYSCB programs and processes preferred
Compensation & Schedule
$20.00/hour
Part-time hours (schedule to be determined)
