Referrals Coordinator – Full-Time Position – Raleigh Location
We’re seeking a detail‑oriented and highly professional Referrals Coordinator to join our fast‑paced specialty medical practice.
The Referrals Coordinator is responsible for managing incoming referrals via fax, online requests, and phone calls from primary care, specialty, and urgent care providers. This position also supports scheduling operations and maintains provider schedule templates in accordance with physician protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and process incoming referrals received via fax, electronic systems, and phone calls
Serve as the “first line” of customer service and public relations for referring providers and patients
Communicate with primary, specialty, and urgent care offices regarding referral status and requirements
Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments according to physician protocols
Maintain provider scheduling templates and ensure accuracy within the scheduling system
Act as a back‑up for the Scheduling Team as needed
Accurately collect, document, and update patient and referral information in the electronic medical record
Collaborate with clinical, scheduling, and administrative teams to ensure seamless patient access to care
What You Bring:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a physician specialty practice, including referral processing
General knowledge of anatomy and Orthopaedic terminology preferred
Experience using electronic medical scheduling software (required)
Excellent public relations and customer service skills
Ability to work effectively in a high‑stress, fast‑paced environment
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work well in a team‑oriented environment
Ability to maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with management, supervisors, co‑workers, patients, and referring providers
