Overview Sprouts Farmers Market, one of the fastest growing natural foods retailers, seeks a Deli Clerk to work in a professional kitchen, preparing and cooking meals, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and delivering high customer service.
Responsibilities
Assist customers in making healthy food choices by preparing “fresh and easy meals.”
Provide a high level of customer service, ensuring deli items are properly prepared, packaged, presented, and that the deli department area remains clean.
Fill, maintain, and rotate products and displays.
Prepare special orders and party trays.
Operate meat and cheese slicers, ovens, microwaves, cutting tools, scales, and other deli equipment following company standards and procedures.
Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary deli area and equipment, including cleaning shelves and products, keeping floors free of spills, removing hazardous debris, sweeping, and performing general housekeeping.
Receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy, temperature, and quality.
Qualifications
At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience working in grocery, restaurant, or related field, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
Dependable, reliable, and outgoing with a positive attitude.
Flexible to work a schedule that changes as the business changes, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Good communication skills and ability to take direction and participate in a team environment.
Ability to answer phones and take special orders.
Physical ability to lift/carry products up to 70 lbs., 4–60 inches, up to 20 feet, for up to 4 hours without mechanical assistance.
Ability to stand continuously for up to 4 hours per shift (total 8 hours per shift).
Perform general housekeeping and sanitation duties in the department.
Operate slicer, wrapping, and cooking equipment and assist in maintaining all equipment in safe working condition.
Adhere to safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations; maintain a Food Handlers permit.
Work in different temperature environments (cooler and freezer).
Other related duties as assigned.
