Nexteer Automotive is seeking an accomplished Sales Account Manager who is prepared to make an immediate impact. We are searching for a results-driven professional with a demonstrated track record in sales, particularly with automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and who is motivated by opportunities for career progression. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional negotiation abilities, a high degree of energy and commitment, and a well-established network within the automotive industry. A strong technical aptitude or background is highly advantageous, as the successful candidate will be required to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to promote and sell Nexteer’s advanced engineered solutions. This role requires regular travel between Saginaw and Detroit, with the potential for occasional international assignments.
This position can be located in Auburn Hills, MI or Saginaw, MI.
Key Responsibilities
Represent the Nexteer brand to an OEM as a sales professional
Bring the “Voice of Customer” to Nexteer
Develop, maintain, and strengthen customer relationships across functional groups at the assigned OEM
Develop and articulate cost breakdowns to customers
Evaluate and understand the competitive landscape
Negotiate pricing and terms in alignment with Nexteer guidelines
Manage complete commercial activity for assigned customers and programs
Manage customer adherence to contractual terms and pricing, and lead issue resolution when required
Enable cross‑functional communication
Understand customer T&Cs, communicate them internally, and resolve interpretations or updates
Work with Legal to ensure contracts between Nexteer and OEMs are legally sound
Pursue and attain customer commitment for targeted new programs
Find and lead resolution to commercial issues for assigned programs
Communicate regularly with Customer Purchasing contacts, including establishing a standard cadence of meetings for face‑to‑face interaction
Interact effectively with the Global Nexteer team
Qualifications
3 or more years of sales related experience in an automotive manufacturing company (Tier or OEM)
Demonstrate a high level of analytical skills to address unusual and complex problems
Exhibit highly developed oral and written communication skills
Maintain and develop internal and external business relationships
Develop a basic technical understanding of Nexteer products and manufacturing processes
Apply financial analytical skills to understand business case analysis, perform basic calculations, and confidently articulate information internally and to customers
Utilize negotiating and relationship management skills to achieve the best overall value
Effectively present information and respond to questions from cross-functional groups of managers, peers, or customers
Demonstrate a very high level of interpersonal skills and comfort with both technical and commercial customer interfaces
Maintain flexibility in work schedule to enable interaction with customers and the internal global organization when required
Display a high work ethic, results-driven mindset, self-motivation, positive influence, and business acumen
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or related field
