Position/Job Summary

The technical designer is responsible for the technical composition of new boat projects, from the marketing phase up to serial production. They create the geometry associated with all composite parts plus integration of all manufactured and purchased subcomponents. This includes, but is not limited to local & structural reinforcement, auxiliary systems, and optional equipment. They operate within project scope, ensuring compliance with company standards, best practices, and quality / cost / time criteria.

Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination & Design

Support the Project Manager in coordinating all technical design aspects, while also taking the project schedule into account.

Organize the CAD assembly to company standards, considering ease of use and file size.

Design parts and components considering both material and manufacturing cost.

Verify model accuracy against physical builds in the workshop.

Ensure consistency between the bill of materials and the digital model.

Update weight estimation files as needed.

Technical Support & Development

Assist in drafting specifications for manufactured and purchased parts.

Deliver “ready to mill” files for GRP parts, starting from sketches or preliminary CAD, in compliance with company standards.

Support testing campaigns in labs and validation plans for purchased parts.

Provide CAD and other data associated with sourcing of purchased parts and components.

Reuse standard or existing parts whenever feasible. Support standardization.

Propose and follow up on various design concepts.

Support prototype/mock‑up analysis and follow‑up.

Quality & Safety

Perform duties in accordance with quality management systems and ergonomic, safety, and environmental policies.

Work closely with all project stakeholders: Project Manager, External designers, naval architect, Quality Department, Development Technicians, and CAD/CAM Technicians.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education & Technical Knowledge

Advanced design education (technical diploma or equivalent).

Integrates process and perceived quality dimensions into design.

Familiarity with manufacturing processes and design reviews.

Behavioral Skills

Tools & Software

CAD / PLM: Creo Parametric or similar.

Experience with ERP.
