The Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust invites applications from experienced midwives with significant relevant midwifery experience for this opportunity for a Band 7 Ward Manager/Team Leader to work within the Midwife Led Birthing Unit (MLBU) within the hospital setting. We are a friendly, supportive team who pride ourselves on our multidisciplinary team working and relationships. New starters to the Trust are provided with a robust orientation programme to enable insight into each clinical area from day one. This will be supported by the Practice Development Team, who will also provide you with opportunities for continuing professional development and support in this role and throughout your career. We are dedicated to providing one-to-one care to all women in established labour and are really proud to have achieved and maintained BFI Level 3 accreditation, and are currently working towards BFI Gold. We received a rating of good in our maternity department in our most recent CQC inspection in 2023. We are an ambitious department, with plans in place to continue to develop and improve the service we offer as we move towards a Group model. Main duties of the job

As Norfolk's largest midwifery service, we provide care for approximately 5,000 deliveries per year. Our in-patient facilities include 32 postnatal beds incorporating 6 transitional care beds, and 14 antenatal beds. The Delivery Suite has 13 birthing rooms, including a birthing pool, and a dedicated bereavement suite. Facilities include 2 obstetric theatres, anaesthetic rooms and a 2-bedded recovery bay. We also have a busy Maternity Triage area consisting of a 4-bedded bay, a single room and a rapid assessment room. The MLBU is co-located and comprises of four birthing rooms with waterbirth facilities. The midwives on MLBU are passionate about the care they provide and receive wonderful feedback from those who use the service. We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative, and emotionally resilient midwife who has excellent proven organisational, management and communication skills. You will need to demonstrate high levels of professionalism at all times, acting as an exemplary role model and open to embracing positive change and transformation of maternity services to meet the needs of the local population of birthing people. If successful, you will need to provide professional leadership and operational management within the MLBU, working collaboratively as part of the wider Intrapartum Service Team. The Ward Manager/Team Leader will hold overall accountability and responsibility for the standards of care provided and for leading, supporting and implementing practice. About us

The Ward Manager/Team Leader will work closely with the Matron for Intrapartum Care and the senior midwifery leadership team to support the implementation of Care Group service plans. They will foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement, ensuring the intrapartum teams function as a cohesive and responsive unit. They will provide direct patient care, demonstrating advanced midwifery knowledge and expertise and will act as a resource and role model for the clinical team. The successful candidate will be expected to support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service. Registered Midwife Degree level /Working towards a relevant degree, or equivalent experience Management qualification or evidence of management development Experience
