Mechanical Engineer 2 . The work will be done
onsite full-time in Lafayette, IN . This is a long-term
24-month position
that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is
up to $33.76/hr + full benefits
(vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
Cullerton Group is seeking a
Mechanical Engineer
to support component engineering activities, including design, analysis, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems and components. This role focuses on researching and evaluating designs, supporting product development, and assisting with engineering documentation and drawings. The engineer will collaborate with a global engineering team and provide hands‑on support for design updates, issue resolution, and production needs. This position is well suited for an engineer with strong CAD skills and a desire to grow within a collaborative engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test mechanical components, systems, and equipment
Analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility, cost, and timing
Investigate component failures and design issues; recommend and implement corrective actions
Assist drafters and engineers in developing structural designs using CAD tools and software
Create, review, and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
Support global engineering teams by distributing work and coordinating design updates
Utilize engineering tools to support continuous improvement and product reliability
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in
Engineering
(required)
2–4 years
of relevant engineering experience (internships accepted if applicable)
Proficiency with
Creo
CAD software
Experience with
Teamcenter
or similar product lifecycle management tools
Strong skills in
Microsoft Office , including Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with
GD&T
Exposure to component or product engineering environments
Experience collaborating with global or cross‑functional engineering teams
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
