Position Summary The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily shipping, receiving, and inventory control operations to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient movement of materials and finished goods. This role ensures warehouse personnel, enforces safety and quality standards, and coordinates closely with production, purchasing to support on-time delivery and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate all shipping and receiving activities, including inbound materials, outbound shipments and transfers.
Lead, train, schedule shipping and receiving staff to meet workload demands and performance expectations.
Ensure accuracy of shipments and receipts by verifying documentation, quantities and product condition.
Maintain inventory accuracy through proper transactions, cycle counts, and adherence to inventory procedures.
Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, and internal departments to resolve delivery issues and meet customer requirements.
Enforce company policies related to safety, quality, housekeeping, and regulatory compliance (OSHA, DOT, etc.).
Monitor shipping costs and recommend improvements to optimize freight expenditure and efficiency.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies, damages, or shortages and implement corrective actions.
Utilize ERP/WMS systems to track shipments, inventory and performance metrics.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required, associate’s degree or higher preferred.
3-5 years of experience in leading shipping, receiving, warehouse, or logistics operations.
Previous supervisory or team lead experience strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of inventory control, freight documentation, and warehouse best practices.
Experience using ERP or warehouse management systems. (Syteline, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Suite)
Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Forklift experience.
Ability to lift 50lbs and work in a warehouse environment.
