Job Summary
The City of St. Peters is seeking a
Guest Service Representative (GSR) Inclusion Specialist
to support and assist recreation staff in creating inclusive, accessible, and welcoming programs and facilities for individuals with disabilities. Under general supervision, this position ensures participants have equitable access to City-sponsored recreation programs and services.
Normal Shift Part-time position with flexible scheduling across all days of the week, including holidays. Hours average 40+ per week from May through August and 5-10 hours per week from September through April.
Key Responsibilities
Communicate with participants, families, teachers, medical professionals, and other stakeholders to determine appropriate inclusion support.
Assist in training recreation staff to support individuals with disabilities through both general and individualized instruction.
Prepare and submit individualized staffing plans and program-related reports.
Mentor and train staff, coordinate staffing plans, utilize adaptive equipment, and provide direct participant support as needed.
Maintain familiarity with local, state, and national agencies related to ADA compliance.
Interpret and apply federal and state laws regarding equal access for individuals with disabilities.
Serve as an internal consultant to ensure City-sponsored programs, activities, and events are accessible.
Perform all work in compliance with established City safety standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized to work in the United States.
Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Special Education, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ukeru® Train-the-Trainer Certification (or ability to obtain within one year of hire).
Valid Missouri Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
Desired Qualifications
Extensive experience working with children and adults with disabilities.
Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities in a summer camp setting is preferred.
Knowledge of recreation philosophy, planning, and administration; working knowledge of the ADA.
Experience conducting facility accessibility assessments and reviewing construction or renovation plans for ADA and Title II compliance.
Strong recordkeeping, reporting, multitasking, prioritization, and time management skills.
Prior experience developing and implementing new programs.
First Aid and CPR certification.
Proficiency with basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
