Sompo has a unique opportunity for an AVP, Claim Account Manager in the North America Client Experience Team. This position will be responsible for handling claim accounts across the Midwest Zone, which includes Chicago, IL, Minneapolis, MN, St. Louis, MO, Kansas City, MO, Detroit, MI, Cincinnati, OH and the encompassing territory. The role will participate in or directly manage the acquisition, maintenance, and renewal of accounts, and deliver agreed‑upon claim service to clients and brokers in a timely and professional manner. Location
This position will be based out of our Chicago, IL or any other Sompo office location in the Midwest Zone. What you’ll be doing:
Foster and manage relationships between claim operations and clients, brokers, and partners Develop sales proposals that present competitive advantages Participate in sales presentations to potential clients and brokers Ensure timely execution of client service contracts and resolve contract, billing, and funding‑related issues Manage all aspects of client claim file review meetings Determine claims and reporting preferences, options, and infrastructure to provide efficient service delivery Establish, monitor, and maintain data integrity, especially with claims coding Determine, establish, and maintain electronic Claim Handling Instructions Monitor claim activity for existing clients to ensure adherence to established protocols Collaborate with management to deliver claim service that meets client expectations Communicate effectively with all internal and external customers Analyze claims data, identify trends within client portfolios, and collaborate on proactive solutions Evaluate claims and provide settlement authority Serve as a single claim point of contact for aligned brokers Support Underwriting and Business Development for broker presentations, marketing, and claims‑related needs in the Western Zone What You’ll Bring:
Minimum of 10 years of insurance claims experience, including managing claim service delivery to large national accounts Familiarity with Alternative Risk Transfer mechanisms and unbundled claim programs Proficiency in Property, Casualty, and Workers’ Compensation claims Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, collaboration, problem‑solving, and communication skills Strong negotiation and presentation skills with excellent written and verbal communication Strategic, proactive, and innovative mindset to develop creative solutions and resolve problems Advanced relationship management skills with internal staff and external partners Ability to develop and deliver financial and statistical analysis to clients Effective communication across a wide spectrum of stakeholders Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word Salary Range:
$130,000 – $190,000. Actual compensation depends on factors such as location, qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. Summary
