Seasonal / Temporary — Potential for Long-Term Role
About Us Montero CPA Tax and Accounting Services provides personalized tax preparation, accounting, and financial services to individuals, families, and small businesses in South Florida. We take pride in accuracy, client care, and integrity.
Position Summary We are seeking dedicated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as Seasonal Tax Preparers for the upcoming tax season (January through April and with possibility of continued employment after the tax season). You will prepare and review federal and state income tax returns, assist clients through the filing process, and ensure compliance with current tax laws. This role is ideal for experienced tax professionals, accounting students, retired CPAs, or anyone with relevant tax preparation experience.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and file accurate
federal and state income tax returns
for individuals and small businesses.
Gather, organize, and analyze financial records including W-2, 1099, deductions, credits, and other supporting documentation.
Interview clients to collect necessary tax information and clarify tax questions.
Identify potential tax credits, deductions, and tax‑saving opportunities.
Ensure all returns comply with federal, state, and local tax laws and filing requirements.
Maintain accurate client files and documentation.
Provide excellent customer service and clear communication throughout the tax preparation process.
Required Qualifications
Active
Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN)
(required by IRS for paid tax preparers).
Experience preparing individual and/or business tax returns (1+ years preferred).
Familiarity with tax preparation software (e.g., ProSeries, Drake Tax, or other professional systems).
Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
Good communication skills and professional client interaction.
Preferred (Not Required)
Experience with complex returns (Schedule C, partnerships, S‑corps).
Prior experience in a CPA firm or public accounting environment.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive
hourly pay
based on experience (typically in the range $15–$35+/hr depending on skills).
