Patient Account Representative

A client of Innova Solutions is immediately hiring for a Patient Account Representative position. This full-time, contract role is remote. As a Patient Account Representative, you will serve as an institutional insurance and reimbursement specialist supporting durable medical equipment and related diversified business lines. This role involves performing end-to-end billing and collections processes, ensuring timely and accurate reimbursement while providing excellent customer service to patients and internal stakeholders. Day to day responsibilities include: Reviewing insurance coverage, obtaining pre-certifications, and determining patient financial responsibility prior to service delivery. Submitting, tracking, and managing insurance claims, including follow-ups on denials, rebilling, and appeal processing. Communicating with patients and internal clinical teams to resolve billing, payment, and account discrepancies. Monitoring accounts receivable, investigating unpaid or underpaid claims, and ensuring timely reimbursement. Accurately documenting all billing activities and maintaining records within claims management and billing systems. The ideal candidate will have: Strong background in healthcare billing and collections, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage complex insurance and reimbursement processes independently. Required skills and qualifications include an associate degree in finance, business, healthcare, or related field with 1+ year of medical/DME billing and collections experience, or a high school diploma/GED with 3+ years of relevant experience. Strong knowledge of insurance verification, claims submission, denial management, and appeals processes. Excellent customer service, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Windows-based systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet applications. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment, with strong attention to detail and keyboarding skills. Preferred skills include experience using claims management or healthcare billing software, familiarity with durable medical equipment (DME), pharmacy, or diversified healthcare billing workflows, basic knowledge of prior authorization and claims maintenance processes, understanding of healthcare terminology and insurance reimbursement guidelines, and proven ability to manage multiple accounts and meet productivity or turnaround-time goals.
