VP, Creative Director- Art (Pharma Agency Exp Needed)

The VP, Creative Director (VP, CD) leads the strategic and creative vision for multiple brands and therapeutic areas. This role demands a combination of exceptional creative leadership and strategic partnership with clients, account teams, and other senior leaders. The VP, Creative Director guides and mentors a multidisciplinary creative team, ensuring that the work delivered is innovative, brand-aligned, and meets strategic objectives.

The role involves spearheading creative strategy across all channels, staying at the forefront of industry trends, and aligning creative outputs with clients' overarching business goals. The VP, Creative Director plays an essential role in maximizing team performance, improving profitability, and leading new business efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Our employees are tasked with delivering excellent business results through the efforts of their teams. These results are achieved by:

  • Overseeing creative strategy and execution across various client brands and indications, ensuring that creative work is strategically aligned and meets client goals.
  • Collaborating with account and planning teams to define and refine creative briefs, ensuring clarity and alignment on project scope and direction.
  • Serving as the lead creative contact for clients, cultivating strong relationships by delivering strategic, creative solutions that address client challenges.
  • Fostering strong partnerships with internal teams (account, planning, production, and subject matter experts) and external partners (clients, vendors, and partner agencies).
  • Ensuring that all creative work adheres to medical, regulatory, and legal (MRL) guidelines while pushing for innovation and boundary-pushing ideas.
  • Presenting and defending creative concepts to clients, positioning the work within a broader strategic and storytelling framework.
  • Championing accessibility and ensuring that all creative work follows best practices in inclusivity and accessibility.
  • Mentoring and developing creative talent, recognizing individual strengths and creating an environment that fosters collaboration and innovation.
  • Leading new business pitches, setting clear directives and inspiring teams to deliver creative excellence.
  • Seeking opportunities for organic growth and identifying potential for new business within existing client relationships.
  • Demonstrating a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.
  • All other duties as assigned.

People Leader: People leaders must possess both the skills to effectively accomplish these tasks and the emotional intelligence to do so in alignment with our cultural values. In addition to the critical management and leadership tasks listed above, this role also includes the following unique responsibilities:

  • Responsible for and oversee their respective department.
  • Interview, select and supervise the activities of the department staff; communicate interpret and discuss with team the company policies and procedures.
  • Determine job objectives, work methods and performance standards; review performance relative to departmental objectives discussion appraisal with each employee and performance; authorize and communicate salary changes, promotions, transfers, discipline, and discharge and administer all other personnel actions.

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven leader with extensive experience in creative direction, ideally with a background in both art and copy or a comprehensive understanding of both disciplines. This particular role is an Art based role overall, so must have an extensive background in Design/Art.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to integrate creative solutions with broader business objectives.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in creative roles (emphasis in Art), with at least 3+ years in a senior leadership position.
  • Excellent conceptual thinker with a portfolio full of design work in the pharma space.
  • Collaborative individual who thrives in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Significant experience leading creative initiatives for healthcare and pharmaceutical brands, with a successful track record of product launches and cross-channel campaigns.
  • Strong storytelling abilities, capable of inspiring both internal teams and clients.
  • Expertise in accessibility and inclusivity best practices, ensuring that creative work reaches diverse audiences.
