Job Summary Under the supervision of an attorney, this position is responsible for providing timely, accurate and expert paralegal support on health care and corporate law matters, including physician and clinical contracting, commercial contracting, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, preparation and maintenance of corporate documents, corporate filings, and due diligence. The Senior Paralegal may assist with presentations, engage in some legal research, and independently manage paralegal tasks in their assigned areas. This role typically reports to an attorney in the Memorial Hermann Legal Department.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and professional paralegal experience.

Certified Paralegal Credential preferred.

Seven (7) years of paralegal or relevant legal assistant experience.

Ability to work collaboratively with health professionals at all levels to achieve established goals.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Analytical, problem‑solving and organizational skills.

Discretion, sound judgment, tact and appropriate confidentiality in all communications.

Must be able to operate independently and on a team, knowing which issues must be handled by an attorney.

Ability to proactively identify and analyze issues, recommend solutions and deliver results.

Computer proficiency and attention to detail.

Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills

Experience in healthcare or corporate law environments.

Proficient in legal research and document drafting.

Strong project management and multitasking abilities.

Principal Accountabilities

Liaison between legal counsel, other business units and external contacts to coordinate and expedite legal matters, ensuring documents are prepared and executed accurately and timely.

Assist in developing and maintaining best practices for tracking and reporting relevant data and processing legal documents.

Independently manage a variety of projects pertaining to routine legal operations, including researching, investigating, drafting, preparing, filing, organizing and distributing legal documents.

Attend meetings for activities related to primary accountabilities.

Handle extremely sensitive confidential and attorney‑client privileged information with discretion.

Manage a range of paralegal duties in assigned focus areas, which may include Transactional, Clinical Operations/Litigation or Regulatory/Employment law.

Other duties as assigned.

Ensure safe care for patients, staff and visitors.

Adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures and standards within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.

Promវe individual professional growth and development by meeting mandatory/continuing education and competency requirements, and serve as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
