Overview
Established in 1902, the Automobile Club of Detroit was founded by legendary Michigan automotive pioneers John Dodge, Ransom Olds, and Henry Ford. These friends and business rivals first discovered the property during weekend escapes from the city, often camping overnight along the scenic shores of Pine Lake. By 1917, the first seven holes of a golf course were developed, with a full 9‑hole course completed in 1919. In 1921, the club officially adopted the name Pine Lake Country Club. Over the years, the club expanded to a full 18‑hole championship course, designed by renowned golf professional Willie Park Jr. The most recent milestone came in July 2024 with the completion of a full course renovation, preserving its rich heritage while enhancing the playing experience.
