Position Overview
Flushing Town Hall seeks a creative and digitally savvyPart-Time Marketing Assistantto join the team. This role is ideal for a dynamic, detail-oriented individual with strong social media, graphic design, and project management skills, paired with an enthusiastic interest in the arts and a passion for engaging the vibrant communities of Queens. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Community Engagement, you will play a key role in promoting a diverse array of programs—from jazz and world music to dance, theater, and family events—through compelling digital content and community-focused outreach.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Digital Marketing & Content Creation
Develop, schedule, and publish engaging content across social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Bluesky, YouTube, and TikTok) using scheduling tools like Sprout Social.
Create eye-catching promotional graphics, digital flyers, and collateral using Canva.
Assist in writing, editing, and proofreading copy for social media, email newsletters, and website updates.
Monitor and engage with online community across social platforms.
Graphic Design & Brand Management
Ensure all visual content is consistent with FTH’s brand identity.
Design digital assets to support marketing campaigns, special events, and community initiatives.
Assist in compiling and preparing marketing materials (photos, bios, videos) for various programs.
Community Engagement Support
Assist in managing digital relationships with artists, community partners, and local organizations.
Support audience development efforts by helping to create content that resonates with Queens’ diverse communities.
Requirements
Proven experience (2+ years) in social media management and content creation.
Strong graphic design skills with proficiency inCanvaand/orAdobe Creative Suite(Photoshop, InDesign).
Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and communication skills.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks independently.
A proactive, self-starter attitude with the ability to meet deadlines.
A genuine enthusiasm for the arts (music, dance, theater, visual arts) and a strong interest in the cultural life and communities of Queens.
Familiarity with basic website content management systems and email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact) is a plus.
Bilingual abilities (especially in one of the languages commonly spoken in Queens) is a significant plus.
