Experienced – Truss Designer We are seeking an experienced Truss Designer located in Utah, knowledgeable in Utah building codes and design requirements. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who has hands‑on experience designing residential and/or commercial truss packages and can step in with minimal training. If you are passionate about precision, collaboration and delivering structurally sound designs we would love to connect.
This position is not intended for entry‑level designers or candidates outside of Utah.
PURPOSE The individual is responsible for creating designs and drawings prepared directly from information submitted on a company order form, client’s customer selection sheet, repeated from previous jobs, or from information developed by a design manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Collabore with outside sales personnel and customers to accurately complete, safe and quality structures.
Assure stability, deflection and load carries in a manner that meets or surpasses codes associated with each project.
Follow quality control procedures for completeness, accuracy, and code compliance for the implementation of design standards.
Confers with client, technical staff, and other Design Services personnel, and prepares design modifications as required.
Develop and complete design details from original concept drawings and prepare layouts.
Review designs for most efficient and profitable use of inventory, equipment, and labor as time permits.
Demonstrate a commitment to the quality improvement process and the philosophy of continuous improvement.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two‑year college or technical school; or six months to one‑year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMPETENCIES
Preferably experience with MS Word, MS Excel, and Mitek.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and sit and occasionally required to walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Subject to both typical office environment and outside locations with temperature and weather variations.
The employee is regularly required to use close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) and color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is subject to quiet conditions, such as those in a library or private office.
