Position Overview Chenequa Country Club is seeking an experienced and motivated
Senior Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
to play a key leadership role within the leadership team. This position is designed for a professional who is ready to take on increased responsibility in daily operations, staff management, and agronomic decision making.
The Senior Assistant will work closely with the leadership team and will be trusted to lead independently when needed.
Key Responsibilities
Lead daily maintenance operations and assist with short- and long-term planning
Supervise, train, and mentor staff; set expectations and promote accountability
Take a lead role in chemical and fertilizer applications, recordkeeping, and compliance
Assist in monitoring turf health, moisture management, and surface metrics across all playing surfaces
Participate in collecting maintaining, and leveraging detailed surface metrics to ensure optimal playing conditions
Oversee irrigation scheduling, troubleshooting, and system repairs
Assist with budgeting, labor planning, and inventory management
Lead daily course setup
Assist with additional aspects of maintenance operations, including landscape maintenance and snow removal
Qualifications
Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management or related field preferred
4–7 years of progressive golf course maintenance experience
Prior experience as an Assistant or Senior Assistant preferred
Wisconsin pesticide applicator license or the ability to obtain one in a timely manner
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
High attention to detail and pride in course presentation
