Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota, is seeking a full-time Interfaith Chaplain and Director of Muslim Life. The college has roots in the Presbyterian Church and supports a multifaith chaplaincy. The position reports to the College Chaplain and Associate Dean, serving as a key campus partner to foster Muslim Life and broader campus engagement, aligned with the mission of the Center for Religious and Spiritual Life, which emphasizes exploration of wholeness, belonging, and purposeful living. The role involves supporting the diverse Muslim community on campus, providing spiritual leadership, and collaborating with a multifaith team that includes Buddhist, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, and Protestant chaplains. The successful candidate will promote diversity, inclusion, and support for students of various backgrounds and identities. Responsibilities

Represent and promote the values of the Center for Religious and Spiritual Life across campus, fostering partnerships and influencing campus culture positively. Develop a five-year vision for interfaith learning and worldview exploration, supervising student Multifaith Program Assistants. Manage budgets for interfaith initiatives and Muslim-specific religious observances. Provide spiritual leadership, facilitate dialogue, and support students exploring multiple identities. Serve as a campus chaplain for students, staff, faculty, and alumni, maintaining confidentiality as a Title IX confidential resource. Represent the college at events, prepare remarks, and lead prayers or teachings as invited. Assess and report on programs and initiatives. Act as a chaplain and advisor to the Muslim Student Association, fostering relationships and student initiatives. Lead and mentor Muslim students in practices such as Jumu’ah prayers and Halaqa studies, ensuring inclusivity and cultural sensitivity. Create pathways for inter/intra-religious dialogue and implement policies supporting religious and cultural practices. Promote understanding of Islamic traditions and build partnerships within the Twin Cities Muslim community. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Islamic Studies, Religious Studies, or Theology required. Clinical Pastoral Education and Muslim Chaplaincy Training preferred. Experience teaching within the Muslim tradition and supporting diverse populations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to interfaith engagement. Availability for flexible hours including nights, weekends, and emergencies.
