About the Role The Director of Retail Operations oversees all day‑to‑day retail operations across Shangri-La dispensaries. This role is responsible for ensuring operational consistency, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and a high‑quality customer experience across all locations.

This position partners closely with Regional Managers and General Managers and requires regular in‑store presence. The ideal candidate is an execution‑driven leader who understands regulated retail environments and enjoys building strong teams, enforcing standards, and driving performance.

Key Responsibilities Retail Operations Strategy

Develop, implement, and continuously refine retail operating standards across all Shangri-La dispensaries

Ensure consistent execution of SOPs related to opening and closing procedures, cash handling, inventory controls, customer flow, safety, and security

Align retail operations with company objectives for growth, efficiency, and customer experience

Translate executive priorities into clear, actionable expectations for field leadership

Performance & Financial Management

Drive store‑level performance across sales, labor efficiency, inventory accuracy, shrink, and customer experience metrics

Review weekly and monthly KPIs and dashboards to identify trends, risks, and opportunities

Partner with Finance to manage labor budgets, payroll efficiency, and operating expenses

Collaborate with Inventory and Purchasing to ensure optimal stock levels and product availability

Field Leadership & Coaching

Lead, coach, and performance‑manage Regional Managers and General Managers

Build bench strength and succession plans for store and regional leadership roles

Conduct regular store visits, audits, and floor walks to evaluate execution and provide hands‑on coaching

Hold leaders accountable through clear goals, follow‑ups, and performance improvement plans when needed

Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure strict adherence to all state cannabis regulations, security requirements, and internal compliance standards

Partner with Compliance and HR on audits, investigations, corrective actions, and regulatory reporting

Reinforce consistent ID verification, POS documentation, CCTV protocols, and incident reporting

Act as an escalation point for operational, compliance, or safety issues

Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Growth Support

Partner with Marketing to execute promotions, merchandising strategies, and in‑store campaigns

Collaborate with HR on staffing models, hiring plans, training initiatives, and leadership development

Support new store openings, remodels, relocations, and operational rollouts

Serve as a liaison between executive leadership and field teams to ensure alignment and clarity

Qualifications

Seven or more years of multi‑unit retail leadership experience

Experience managing managers required

Background in cannabis or other regulated retail environments preferred

Strong operational, analytical, and people leadership skills

Willingness to travel regularly

Excellent communication and execution skills
