Creative Design Manager, Medical & Scientific Communications
(Agency Equivalent = Associate Creative Director)
The Creative Design Manager (CDM) will assist in the direction and development of the promotional healthcare marketing design team and deliverables. In this pivotal role, the CDM will be instrumental in shaping and enhancing Simpson Healthcare’s promotional advertising and design offerings. The position places a strong emphasis on experience in strategic and creative development for in‑market and launch of commercially available therapeutics. As a hands‑on creative leader, you will help develop, and guide a team of talented art directors, designers, and writers, offering mentorship, inspiration, and strategic direction to deliver innovative and impactful creative solutions that not only meet but exceed client expectations and support business objectives.
The CDM will report to the Creative Director while being assigned to specific client engagements. The CDM will thrive in a collaborative, cross‑functional environment, working closely with Client Services Lead, producers, marketing directors, writers, photographers, digital and video specialists. The CDM and Client Services Lead will work together to ensure seamless integration and execution of creative projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the Creation and Development of Scientific Concepts and Content
Lead assigned creative teams in the execution of ideas to a high level of creative excellence.
Assist and oversee creation of concepts for presentation to clients, developing compelling and captivating presentations that are organized, professional and effective in support of client strategy.
Creates and presents content in a variety of media in support of client strategy and objectives.
Critically review technical and scientific reports from external sources for inclusion as a resource for content development.
Identify, develop, recommend and/or negotiate scientifically sound, creative solutions to meet clients’ critical business needs.
Partner with Key Stakeholders in Meeting Project Objectives
Work with the Creative Director to assess, build, and manage assigned teams.
Directly interact and present with client team to ensure client objectives are met.
Collaboratively interact with scientists internally and from all partners.
Partner with internal and external partners to develop and implement a compliant strategy and framework for the delivery and communication of key scientific, pipeline, or clinical insights in line with client objectives.
Have continuous awareness of current trends within the industry and establish global best practices regarding system(s) enhancement, usage, and training.
Collaborate with Internal Team
Provide status on assigned projects to Client Services to ensure adherence to timelines and that clients are informed of any potential resource needs.
Operational excellence in delivering work on‑time, error‑free, on strategy, and on‑budget within pharma/company/brand guidelines.
Internal Team Management
Lead by example. Adhere to all SOPs and assist staff in adherence to same.
Ensure staff understands responsibilities and duties for specific projects and for SOPS.
Align with Creative Director on staff growth and development for team members, including opportunities to assume new responsibilities, expanding skill sets, and providing constructive feedback.
Create a positive work environment, fostering a team approach, encouraging open communication.
Assign projects to assigned staff in accordance with staff experience, growth, and bandwidth.
Identify needed modifications and/or new systems, tools, and processes to enable team and company effectiveness and efficiencies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS ROLE
Bachelor’s degree in advertising, design, or related field required.
7‑10 years of experience in promotional medical communications, marketing or advertising required.
Promotional healthcare/drug launch experience required.
Commercial creative development experience (campaign briefs, broadcast reels, ad messaging digital/physical) required.
Computer proficiency; solid knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud and other design programs.
Must be a strong team player and be willing to work in an environment where individual initiative and accountability to the team is required.
Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong organization and time management skills.
Ability to leverage internal and external relationships to the benefit of the project, client, and Simpson.
Great team player with a strong drive and willingness to take initiative.
Curiosity and aptitude for continuous thinking, learning and collaboration.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $91,400.00 – $152,300.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job‑related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part‑time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
