Job Title Preschool Director

Reports To BMUMC Senior Pastor and Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC)

Position Summary We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Preschool Director to lead our part‑day early childhood program. Serving fewer than 100 children, our preschool offers classes for toddlers through Pre‑K, with enrichment in music, movement, and STEM. While acrescent, the program follows North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) guidelines for early childhood programs.

The Director provides vision, leadership, and administrative oversight, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment. This role manages curriculum, staff, family engagement, and appropriate practice, and serves as the primary liaison between the preschool and church leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Program Leadership and Curriculum

Lead daily operations of the preschool.

Develop and oversee programming, including curriculum aligned with best practices for ages 2–5.

Ensure activities reflect the mission and values of the church and developmentally appropriate practice (DAP).

Schedule and manage enrichment programming (music, movement, STEM).

Maintain compliance with NC early childhood regulationscura health/safety standards.

Staff Supervision and Development

Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate teaching staff, substitutes, and enrichment specialists.

Provide professional development and performance evaluations.

Foster a collaborative and professional work environment.

Administrative and Financial Management

Collaborate with the business manager on budgeting, enrollment, tuition, and record-keeping.

Oversee admissions, registration, and student records.

Manage classroom supply procurement.

Church and Family Relations

Serve as the main point of contact for families.

Communicate clearly about policies, events, and program information.

Promote the preschool within the church and through community outreach.્

Represent the preschool to the Preschool Board.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field is preferred. An associate’s degree in a related field, or state‑approved equivalent education and experience, will be considered.

Minimum 1 year of experience working in a licensed and/or accredited early childhood education program is required.

At least 1 year of experience in a leadership or administrative role preferred.Strong understanding of NC DCDEE rules and guidelines.

Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

A personal, demonstrated relationship with Jesus Christ and alignment with the church’s statement of faith.

CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain prior to start).

Ability to operate in an active, fast‑paced environment with time split between desk work and classroom presence.

Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.

Mobility to engage with children at their level.

Visual and auditory acuity for child supervision.

Clear, audible speech for effective communication.
