The Compensation & Benefits Director is responsible for implementing and adapting the global Total Rewards strategy defined by the Global Strategic Center of Expertise (CoE) for employees in the United States and Canada. This role focuses on operationalizing strategic initiatives, ensuring programs are competitive, compliant, and aligned with organizational objectives and philosophies. A key priority will be reviewing and modernizing the U.S. benefits approach for bioMérieux to enhance competitiveness, employee experience, and cost efficiency. The Director will lead a team of professionals and collaborate closely with senior HR stakeholders to deliver impactful compensation and benefits solutions.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Implementation
Execute global compensation and benefits strategy within North America, ensuring alignment with global frameworks and local market needs.
Adapt global guidelines to meet regional regulatory and market requirements.
Act as a key advisor to the global CoE, providing insights on regional trends and influencing global policy decisions.
Compensation
Administer compensation structures, salary ranges, and incentive programs for U.S. and Canadian employees.
Lead annual compensation review cycles, including merit increases and bonus programs.
Provide guidance on market pricing, and pay equity
Benefits
Conduct a comprehensive review of the current U.S. benefits offering to identify gaps and opportunities for modernization, while optimizing costs
Implement changes to align benefits with market best practices, employee expectations, and global strategy.
Manage vendor relationships and service quality.
Develop communication and education programs to increase awareness and engagement with benefits offerings and manage open enrollment.
Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and maintain alignment with Canadian standards.
Monitor market trends and competitor practices to maintain competitive benefit packages.
Leadership & Collaboration
Manage and develop a team of 4 professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with People Partners, Finance, and Legal to ensure compliance and alignment with organizational goals.
Serve as a trusted advisor on compensation and benefits matters for North America leadership.
Compliance & Governance
Ensure adherence to federal, state, and provincial regulations for compensation and benefits.
Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for audits and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. Certifications such as CCP or CBP preferred.
8+ years of progressive experience in compensation and benefits, with at least 5 years in a leadership role required.
Strong expertise in U.S. compensation and benefits strategy, laws, and equity best practices required.
Canadian pay equity regulation knowledge preferred.
Implementation of global strategies at a regional level.
Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
Proficiency in market analysis tools and Mercer methodologies.

Compliance and governance orientations The estimated salary range for this role based in North Carolina is between $166,400 – $193,000. This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMerieux’s bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidate’s experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.
