Internship Overview AKU Nonprofit is seeking
one motivated, creative, and business‑minded college student
for a Spring 2026
PR & Marketing Internship . This opportunity is ideal for a
local Charlotte‑based student
with an interest or background in
public relations, marketing, communications, branding, and business strategy .
The intern will play a key role in supporting AKU Nonprofit’s
rebranding efforts , marketing strategy, and storytelling initiatives, while also gaining hands‑on experience in
event planning and promotion
through collaborative projects with Curvaceous Behavior Nonprofit.
This is a
hybrid internship —most work will be completed remotely during the week, with
occasional in‑person meetings, workshops, and events
in Charlotte, NC.
About the Organizations AKU Nonprofit
is a Charlotte‑based youth arts organization dedicated to providing
free art education and creative programming
to students in underserved communities, with a strong focus on the
West Charlotte Corridor . AKU offers community paint classes, youth workshops, and outreach initiatives that make art accessible and empowering.
Curvaceous Behavior Nonprofit
focuses on wellness, creative expression, and empowerment‑based programming. Through its collaboration with AKU, interns gain exposure to community‑centered event planning and nonprofit operations.
Internship Responsibilities Primary Focus – AKU Nonprofit (PR & Marketing):
Assist with
rebranding AKU Nonprofit , including messaging, visuals, and brand storytelling
Support
marketing and PR strategy development
Create and manage social media content (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok)
Develop visual and written content for youth programs and campaigns
Conduct community outreach to
local schools, artists, and businesses
Draft and send professional outreach and promotional emails
Support fundraising and donor engagement efforts
Secondary Focus – Curvaceous Behavior Nonprofit (Event Support): 5th Annual PROM PROJECT
Assist with
event planning and promotion
Gain hands‑on experience supporting wellness and community‑based programming
Help with promotional projects and event logistics
Time Commitment
20–26 hours per week
4 days per week , approximately
4–6 hours per day
Mostly remote with occasional in‑person meetings and events
Ideal Candidate
Must be a
college student currently enrolled
and
based in Charlotte, NC
Background or strong interest in PR, marketing, communications, branding, or business
Passionate about creative arts, storytelling, and community impact
Self‑motivated, reliable, and able to work independently
Comfortable with social media and digital communication
Available for occasional in‑person meetings and events
Internship Details
Unpaid internship
Eligible for college credit
(Students must provide required documentation from their college or university. AKU will provide supervision and verification as needed.)
Intern will receive:
Hands‑on mentorship
Real‑world experience in nonprofit marketing and branding
Portfolio‑building opportunities
Exposure to community arts, wellness programming, and event planning
