St. John’s- Aiken Director of Children’s Ministries Christian Education
At St. John’s in Aiken, we are looking for someone who loves Jesus & families. We want someone who is driven to find ways to help families know Jesus by creating opportunities for children to grow in faith. Skills Required: someone who loves children, organized, a planner, event planning background is helpful, coordinates volunteers, and a team player. Responsibilities Summary: Responsible for the comprehensive Christian Education initiative of the church, with a specific emphasis on fostering the spiritual development of our children ranging from infancy to the sixth grade. Give direct attention to Children’s Ministries Coordinate with the Children’s Council and Church Council to develop and implement annual goals, budget, and ministries for children Work with the Children’s Council to plan and implement programs involving children and their families (weekly children’s program & monthly family events) Recruit, train, enable, and provide resources for teachers and, leaders of children’s ministry, and volunteers activities such as Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, Children’s Church, and others as needed Ensure all resources foster strong families and faith formation in children Coordinate with Youth Director to develop and maintain a “feeder” program for 5th and 6th grade children Supervise the nursery staff to ensure quality preschool childcare on Sunday morning and for church events that require such care Assist with the coordination of space and resources with the Pre-School/Kindergarten and Children’s choirs for all weekday programs Ensure our facilities and procedures provide a “safe sanctuary” for our children and that St John’s Safe Sanctuary Policy is current and adhered to in all children’s programs and ministries Assist with the administrative duties of the programs including communication with members, production of newsletters, reservations, web page information and other items as needed Questions call us at the office (803)648-6891
