Job Summary Writes scripts. gathers, and writes news stories. Responsible for video and audio production, editing, camera operations and inventory control. Performs other special duties and completes special projects as assigned.

Job Duties

Produces materials in the Cherokee language.

Produces audio/visual materials on Cherokee Nation events.

Create graphics and video content for commercial use.

Creates graphic and video content for social media purposes.

Provides in-house maintenance and service on audio/visual equipment.

Arranges exterior maintenance and service on audio/visual equipment.

Designs, plans and implements outreach avenues for Cherokee Nation information such as an in house information channel, local cable access channel and a Kiosk or stand‑alone information system.

Provides a production studio by acquiring new materials and updating equipment.

Produces audio and video news releases in a timely fashion.

Uses non‑linear editing systems to produce quality video products.

Performs other duties as assigned. Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities Lead position

Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT Bachelor's degree from four‑year college or university; or six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience Requirement An additional four (4) years of experience in a related field is required.

Computer Skills An individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software, Design software, Development software, Internet software, and Spreadsheet software.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.

Other Skills And Abilities Must have received Media Specialist and computer training. Must have working knowledge of computer graphics programs, knowledge of basic maintenance practices for Digital or DSLR video equipment, and familiarity with standard three‑point lighting techniques. Must be able to demonstrate non‑linear editing experience, experience in single and multiple camera video productions, and basic audio production skills.

Other Qualifications Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, and kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, exposed to high, precarious places, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
