Southland Industries Join to apply for the Mechanical Estimator 2 role. This listing includes responsibilities for preparing portions of contract proposal estimates, performing take-offs on systems, materials and equipment according to project plans and specifications.

What You’ll Do

Prepare proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of the estimate.

Attend pre-bid meetings and/or tour job sites to confirm requisite take-offs.

Prepare estimates by calculating complete take-off of scope of work, using FastPIPE or FastDUCT or McCormick and/or ConEst(Intellibid) estimating software.

Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including pricing information from suppliers, brochures, price lists, and software uploads.

For electrical, perform at a minimum Estimator 1 take-off items and estimating take-off for switchgear, distribution, cable tray, UPS/PDU, emergency generators/ATS and associated feeders.

Ensure accuracy and applicability of data in final project files.

Support other department personnel as required; may include preparing estimates in other disciplines.

Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or material availability.

Provide support to field operations regarding mechanical estimates as needed.

Implement pricing updates and version updates to FastEST and assist with training for others.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful

Proficiency with FastPIPE and/or FastDUCT or similar estimating software.

Working knowledge of multiple disciplines, estimating techniques and cost control.

Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.

Ability to perform detailed work and meet deadlines.

What You Bring To The Table

High school degree or equivalent; some technical training or advanced education preferred.

At least 5 years estimating, controls and/or engineering experience related to mechanical construction.
